Savannah Jazz Festival … Across the Street!

The Savannah Jazz Festival, in its 31st year and the largest free festival in the southeast, celebrates jazz as a living art form and is built on a constantly evolving tradition. The festival boasts the best in international, national, regional and local jazz talent and offers all types of jazz.  The Festival runs September 23 – 30 and all of the performances on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are scheduled just across the street from our Bed and Breakfast at Forsyth Park.  Our guests couldn’t have chosen a better location to spend their week than at the Park Avenue Manor!

Meet Our Permanent Guest…

“Red” the cat!

For those of you how have met and come to know Red, here are a few pic of his lazy summer days. For those of you who have not made Red’s acquaintance, he is our neighborhood friend (neutered, vaccinated and outside only) who has captured the hearts of many of our guests. ENJOY!

CBGB movie filming in Savannah!

Last night several of our guests were able to experience some of the filming of new “CBGB” movie being filmed here in Savannah. Movie magic has moved Congress Street in downtown more than 800 miles north and nearly four decades back in time. The filmmakers behind the movie (now filming in Savannah) have recreated New York’s Bowery neighborhood during its gritty days in the 1970s. Even the businesses surrounding the club have been resurrected, including the Palace Hotel.  ‘CBGB’ – is a movie about the CBGB club in New York that is credited with launching many American punk rock bands.

Special guest at the Park Avenue Manor

Here at the Manor, Beryl is keeping us on our toes and giving us much needed rain. But just before the storm arrived, we had a special visitor stop by and she posed for a photo-op.  Hope you like it!

A Valentine Surprise for Each Guest Room

We just had a very special guest stay at the inn: Paul Cullen! Paul is a well-known song writer, musician and performer from Delaware. He has two CD’s out: “Dreamdance & Paradise” & “Eleven Sundays”. He has also launched his own line of wine: SONATA. There are three types of wine: Rosso, a Cabernet fusion; Bianco, a Pinot Grigio; and Rose. Last night Paul invited Glenn and me and our guest to a wine tasting in our parlors. We played Paul’s CD’s, enjoyed his wine and had a great time. You can find out more about Paul Cullen, his music and his wines at www.unpluggedanduncorked.com.
